Joe Cabaniss was looking for an experienced designer to help him with the cover of his first book “Life Songs And Other Passages.” He found me on LinkedIn although we had worked together for a few years at the San Diego Union-Tribune in the Creative Services department. Maybe it wasn’t just a coincidence we worked well together once again. The book, as the title suggests, is a a series of stories set in San Diego, CA. Joe and I agreed on the background image, Pacific Beach’s Crystal Pier, a surfer walking along the edge of the water with Point Loma’s pennisula hovering in the background…about as San Diego as it gets.
