During the fall of 2013 I took an animal illustration class, again with Blair Thornley at UCSD Extension. She asked us to draw an animal in any media we chose, and then create a character for a children’s book. I chose the koala, and wanting to explore cross-hatching with ink (like that of Edward Gorey), I created the two koalas, one which I think is looking for mom, the other listening on his iPod, is the teenage version (and probably NOT looking for mom).
